The CBC and Broadcasting Series consists of documents related to Albert W. Johnson activities as President and Chairman of CBC. It consists of documents related to broadcasting, CRTC hearings, opening of CBC regional stations, and his involvement in many associations and committees concerning broadcasting in Canada. It also documents his participation in the Accountability Framework for Crown Corporations Committee. This series contains his credentials for his position at CBC, Telesat and National Film Board, four original caricatures from Yardley Jones, Jerry King, Elmsie and one copy from Donato. A scrapbook of press clipping concerning his activities at CBC: multilingual broadcasting, the CBC strategy, correspondence, and World Music Week. It contains a fundamental text prepared by the President and entitled Touchstone for CBC, which presents Johnson's plans for the national broadcasting institution and a scrapbook of press clippings concerning his activities during this period. It also documents the discussion related to the legislative framework for governance and accountability for Crown Corporations put in place in 1984.
The series contains photographs which document Al Johnson's activities as President of CBC: an official portait of Johnson as President, Johnson with prestigious guests as Mr. Balakrishnaw, Director of Malaysian Broadcasting, the violonist Yehudi Menuhin and Governor General Edward Schreyer. It also contains photographs of the Opening of the CBC station in New Brunswick and in British Columbia, and two photographs of Pierre Elliot Trudeau and Chief Dan George with other people.
