Sound recording predominantly of concert performances by an unidentified female singer. One side begins with three unidentified songs in English, accompanied by piano; the third song is introduced as about Queen Elizabeth I after the death of Essex, when she is going slightly mad. These are followed by a lieder composed by Johannes Brahms, Immer leiser wird mein Schlummer (op. 105, no. 2) and by another song in German (possibly a second lieder by Brahms). The next two songs are in German and accompanied by cello and piano. These are in turn followed by two songs from Trois Chansons de Bilitis (composed by Claude Debussy, on poems by Pierre Louÿs): La flûte de Pan, and Le tombeau des naïades. The other side begins with an unidentified song for female voice, accompanied by a string orchestra. This is followed by an unrelated section of the recording, which consists of concert performances of three unidentified classical works for solo piano (announced as "extracts from last year's performances by Malcolm Frager in the theatre"). <59mn>

1. An apparently unrelated business card for the piano tuner H.K. Hoglund, Ottawa, was found in the box for this sound recording. There is no other accompanying documentation.~2. Other extent, physical details information: 1 audio reel; polyester, 19 cm/sec., 2 sides; 13 cm in diam. Music is recorded in both directions, on separate tracks.~3. Sound recording forms part of the series "Sound recordings of musical performances" of the Mario Bernardi fonds, R4633.
