Audio recording of the second day of a plenary session of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE), from November 6-7, 1997, in Ottawa. This meeting is a consultation session with the Department of Finance on its sustainable development strategy. Members discuss topics including: the effectiveness of comanagement; the collaborative aspect of the Oceans Act; fisheries and oceans management; tradeable emissions permits; environmental and economic policy issues; tax measures; economic instruments; incentives; subsidies and grants; legislative and regulatory frameworks; the role of the Department of Finance; climate change; international trade agreements; and globalization. Recording features presentations by the Honourable David Anderson (Minister of Fisheries and Oceans), Ian Bennett (Associate Deputy Minister of Finance), Anne Park (Assistant Deputy Minister, Economic Development and Corporate Finance), and Don Drummond (Dept. of Finance).
