The series comprises postally-used covers addressed to Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau and bearing a variety of Canadian patriotic/promotional slogans, stickers/seals, illustrated corner cards, postage meter and machine cancel slogans, parliamentary and free frank postal markings. These postal covers include a first day cover from India (Mother Teresa 70th birthday in 1980) and a commemorative cover from the United States about the 5th anniversary (in 1967) of a speech by President John F. Kennedy. There is also a pane of labels asking for the boycott of the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games. These postal covers were originally part of the PMO Correspondence Series (1979-1983) and the Constituency Series (1968-1984).

The series also comprises two letters (including their postal covers) sent to Prime Minister Trudeau on the occasion of the Proclamation Day of Canada Post Corporation (16 Oct. 1981). One is the last official letter handled by the Post Office Department, from Postmaster General André Ouellet to Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada. The other is the first official letter handled by Canada Post Corporation, from the President and Chief Executive Officer, R. Michael Warren to Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Both letters were delivered by letter carrier Jacques Mousseau of Ottawa. The series also comprises both replies by the Prime Minister.
