The sub-series consists of two blocks of records - one alphabetical and the other chronological.

The records arranged alphabetically consist of correspondence from friends and acquaintances dating predominantly from 1982-1998 but including some correspondence from earlier years. Correspondents include Margaret Atwood, Timothy Findley, Bill and Cathy Graham, Mel Hurtig, Irving Layton, Farley and Claire Mowat, John Polanyi, Mary Pratt, Cynthia Scott, Veronica Tennant, Peter Townsend, Arnold Toynbee, Pierre Trudeau, John Turner, and John Updike.

The records arranged chronologically consist of personal correspondence files kept throughout Clarkson's career and dating from the 1940's to 2006. The files include correspondence with family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances.
