WALTER EGO is a part live-action, part animated comedy series set in the lively world and quirky mind of newspaper cartoonist Walter Davis. Walter finds inspiration for his weekly funnies in the private lives of his colourful friends, ambitious colleagues and often zany relatives. While his friends sometimes delight in the notoriety and minor celebrity status Walter's syndicated satirical strip brings them, often they are not entirely pleased with Walter's depictions of them and the situations/predicaments in which they are portrayed. Walter's characters mingle in the bars, the restaurants, the lofts, shops, offices, theatres and gyms of contemporary Toronto, the city where Walter Davis himself lives. The series portrays real life events in live-action, while Walter's comics are presented as animated cartoons. In this episode, Walter and his ex-lover Mina attend a birthday party for their friend Duncan. Duncan tells Walter, in confidence, a private story concerning himself and his wife. When the story appears in Walter's comic strip several days later, Duncan becomes infuriated. Meanwhile, the motivational speaker attending Duncan's party ends up beaten in an alley and Walter's friend Goody is arrested. Walter's mother Ida persuades him to take her on a drive to "look at prostitutes" and winds up arrested in a drug raid. <21mn 4s>
