Inscribed, in ink, top: Orchis Fimbriata. Fringed Orchis. / This finely perfumed flower, grows in natural meadows, / on spots, where a few bushes mix with the grass.
Inscribed, in ink, bottom: Salidago casia. / This grows in poor open land, and sometimes in Moss bogs.

Inscribed, in ink, top: Statice Limonium. Sea Lavender. / This very neat specimen, "Sea Lavender which lacks Perfume", grows on the / Sea Shore. It is common in Europe, and is used there in the tanning / of Prussian leather.
Inscribed, in ink, bottom: Aster Salidaginoides. / This pretty specimen, grows in Swamps, and poor moist soils.

Inscribed, in ink, top: Lilium Canadensis. Canadian Lily. / This fine lily, so like the garden "Tiger Lily," grows in rich soils, / subject to inundations. Its roots are eaten by the Indians.
