Biography/Administrative history:

Lapierre, Jean C : Jean-Claude Lapierre studied the law at University of Ottawa. He is elected as a Liberal at the House of Commons in 1979, becoming one of the ministers in the government of John Turner. In 1990, he supports Paul Martin against Jean Chrétien in the campaign for a new leader. After the Chrétien's victory, he joined the Bloc québécois as Member of Parliament from 1990 to 1993.

He left the political life in 1993 and became a radio presenter in the Montreal station CKAC. In 2004, he is elected anew as liberal MP. First officer of Paul Martin on Quebec's issues, he is designated as Minister of Transport on July 20, 2004. Re-elected in 2006, he loose his function due to the Conservative Party victory. He retired from politics on January 2007.
