Collection search - Indexes of Correspondence [textual record]

This accession consists of six alphabetical indexes of correspondence apparently intended for the Post Office Inspectors. The indexes list the date and the subject of the letters sent. Subjects include but are not limited to: dismissal of personnel, increase of salary, confirmation of appointment, retirement, promotion, rates of postage, mail contracts, etc.
Accession also contains a file that includes various records such as research notes from Mr. Hillman, original correspondence for the Post Office Department and a list of post offices of Toronto Division dating from 1879.

This accession consists of records found in Tom Hillman's office. Mr. Hillman was an archivist at Library and Archives Canada and the records were found when he retired in 1997.
