THIRST FOR LIFE is a documentary that pays homage to the world's favourite ruby elixir - wine. The film is a scientific quest in the form of travelogue adventure whose goal is to reveal both the refined sensuous enjoyment and the healthful secrets that come from drinking wine. Host, Bob Blumer, travels around France and North America, interviewing a variety of experts, wine connoisseurs and people in the wine business in order to show that there is much more to wine than what the early 20th century's redefinition of alcohol as an "evil habit" implies. The film's purpose is to convey the message of the latest research, which now links the consumption of wine to the prevention of illnesses such as heart disease, prostate cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease. As such, THIRST FOR LIFE makes a compelling argument that adding a little red wine to daily life might not be such a bad thing after all.
