Peck, Ronald M : Born, Wolfville, N.S., 27 April 1915. Graduated McGill University, B. Arch. 1940 (Received the Lieutenant-Governor's Silver Medal in Architecture). Instructor in the Engineering Dept. of Acadia University for the college year 1940-41. Joined the Royal Canadian Engineers, Canadian Army, in Halifax as a provisional 2nd Lieut., 23 June 1941. Qualified as Lieutenant, 7 Nov. 1942, served in Canada, U.K. and Continental Europe. Time on the continent was with the Canadian Road Construction Company. Returned to Canada and released from military 8 November 1945. Articled in the Wolfville Office of L.R. Fairn, F.R.A.I.C. Registered with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects 17 May, 1946. Commenced private practice in Wolfville, 1947. Employed by the federal government as a restoration architect with Restoration Services of Parks Canada in Ottawa, May 1972. Transferred to Halifax, N.S. as Head Restoration Architect, Restoration Section, E & A Branch, Atlantic Region, August 1975. Retired on 29 December 1979. Member of the Board of Governors of Acadia University 1950-1970, most of the period as a member of the Executive Committee. Member of the Board of the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, Wolfville, N.S. 1949-1965. Chairman from 1956-1962. Member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Wolfville, resigned on moving to Ottawa in 1972. Member and Past Master St. George's Lodge #20, A.F. & A.M., Wolfville, N.S. Member and Past President of the Dr. C.B. Lumsden Branch, #74 Royal Canadian Legion, Wolfville, N.S. Named Hon. President in 1986. Member of the Association for Preservation Technology. Member of the Heritage Canada Foundation. Member of ICOMOS. Member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Member of the Advisory Council on Heritage Property, Nova Scotia.

Custodial history:

Donated to the National Map Collection in 1972 by Mr. Peck while employed with the Restoration Services Division of National Historic Sites Service.
