Canada. Department of Public Works. Headquarters Branch : The Headquarters Branch first emerged as a distinct unit within the Department of Public Works in 1967. That year, the department was reorganized into six regional offices and a centralized Headquarters Branch. The regional offices had greater autonomy with respect to the management of regional operations, but planning and control of the department continued to be centralized at the headquarters in the National Capital Region.
