Produced both in English and in Cree, JOURNEY TO THE PRINZAPOLKA is a 48 minute documentary depicting how the Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC), run by the Cree and Dene indigenous groups from Saskatchewan, shares its experience and knowledge on economic and social development with the Miskito, a poverty-stricken aboriginal nation from the Prinzapolka region in Nicaragua, Central America. This partnership between the two indigenous peoples separated by distance, language, and a generation of human development started in 1995, and continues to flourish to this day. Having overcome similar hurdles that the Miskito now face, the MLTC is trying to pass the lessons it has learned on to the Miskito in order to help them both economically and socially. This story of a unique bond, the first aboriginal to aboriginal development assistance program for the Americas funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), is a story of optimism, hope and inspiration.
