This series comprises records relating to specific research projects and to the development of electronic resources, specifically five online book history databases: Bibliography of the History of the Book in Canada / Base de données bibliographiques sur l'histoire du livre et de l'imprimé au Canada (BHBiC/BHLIC); Base de données sur les Catalogues canadiens relatifs à l'imprimé / Canadian Book Catalogues (CCRI/CBC); Canadian Book Trade and Library Index / L'Index canadien des métiers du livre et des bibliothèques (CBTLI/ICMLB); Base de données sur les Imprimés canadiens avant 1840 / Canadian Imprints to 1840 (IC/CI); and Base de données sur les Manuels scolaires canadiens/ Canadian Textbooks (MSC/CT). Technical work for the databases took place at the project's Dalhousie site under the direction of Bertrum MacDonald, editor of electronic resources; most sites contributed records to BHBiC/BHLIC and to CBTLI/ICMLB. The Toronto site played a large role in the development stages of CBTLI/ICMLB, and was solely responsible for editorial work on IC/CI, directed by Patricia Fleming. The CCRI/CBC database was compiled at the Toronto office, by graduate research assistant Andrea Rotundo, and at Montreal, under the direction of Yvan Lamonde. Researchers should also consult the McGill University site sous-fonds and the Dalhousie University site sous-fonds.

This series also includes cross-volume and volume-specific research projects and reports prepared by project graduate research assistants and post-doctoral fellows. These include substantial files from the Canadian Book Iconography Research Project, launched at Toronto in collaboration with Mary Williamson (York University) and completed by graduate research assistant Sophie Regalado, to locate and identify potential images relating to books and readers for use in the volumes. HBiC/HLIC was also involved in re-formatting records from Darienne L. McCauley's unpublished 1995 "Annotated Bibliography of the Book Trade in Canada." Files include correspondence relating to the re-formatting and subsequent mounting of the database on the SFU library web site. Additional research materials and reports produced by the project are present in all sous-fonds.
