After the completion of the Commission's principal hearings in December 1995, Commissioner Krever caused notice to be given confidentially to ninety-five persons, corporations and governments that he may make findings of fact about conduct in the years in question that might amount to misconduct within the meaning of the Inquiries Act. In early 1996, an application was brought in the Trial Division of the Federal Court of Canada challenging his jurisdiction to make some of these potential findings of fact. While the application was dismissed, some applicants took the appeal to the Federal Court of Appeal, where the appeal of one appellant was allowed. Some unsuccessful appellants appealled to the Supreme Court of Canada, where their appeals were also dismissed. This series consists of documentation of these events, from the delivery of the notices to the Supreme Court case.
