This sub-series contains documents concerning the economic, social and cultural development of the counties of Westmorland-Kent in New Brunswick and cover mainly the period from 1979-1984. Most of the files deal with development initiatives fostered by the Department of Regional Economic Expansion (DREE), including a number of development projects in the area of forestry, tourism, highway construction and repairs, fisheries, business expansion and job creation. Other development initiatives are also covered in the sub-series such as Local Economic Development Assistance Program (LEDA), the Community Services Contribution Program (CSCP) and the Canada Community Development Project (CCDP).
There are also numerous documents concerning the revitalization of the Moncton Core, the development of Market Square in Saint John, the Saint John Drydock, the Frigate Program, the decentralization of the Supply and Services building to Shediac, the Kouchibouguac National Park dispute, the closure of CFB Chatham and the termination of the French language newspaper 'l'Evangéline.' There are also a number of files concerned with Acadian cultural groups associations, and projects such as the Société des Acadiens du Nouveau-Brunswick (SANB), the Université de Moncton, and the Centre d'études acadiennes (CEA).
There are also numerous organized files of newspaper clippings documenting media coverage of various political, social and economic issues dealing with government for the period 1979-1985. Most of the newspaper clippings deal with development projects and issues in New Brunswick but there are also a number of files that deal more generally with the federal government and development issues in other provinces.
Files in this sub-series consist largely of correspondence between Romeo LeBlanc's staff. There are also numerous handwritten notes, speeches and correspondences written by Romeo LeBlanc and members of his staff. Many of the files contain press releases, government reports, briefing notes, pamphlets, programs for various conferences and council meetings, newspaper clippings and speeches or remarks made by Mr.LeBlanc and other officials on various occassions. Some files also contain photographic material and plans for various development projects.
