The series comprises personal and legal correspondence, newspaper articles, obituaries, certificates, and legal documents. It consists primarily of Robert Powell's correspondence, in particular that concerning his relationship with his younger brother, Ward Hughson (Hugh) Powell, the latter's illness, and the impact his unexpected death had on the Powells. Other significant files include the correspondence with Edith Powell (neé Tréau de Coeli) concerning family artifacts, and Emiko (Amy) Powell's letters about Hugh Powell's family following his death in 1973. The series also contains official correspondence relating to the estates, including wills, of certain family members.

Robert Powell's personal material includes birth certificates, birthday notices from the Canadian and Ontarian governments, wedding announcements, obituaries and his Bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto in Applied Science from 1937. Some of Louise Powell's personal papers are also in this series.
