ALICE, I THINK is a thirteen-part half-hour comedy TV series based on the popular, critically-acclaimed, books by British Columbian author Susan Juby. Set in the small town of Smithers, B.C. (population 5124), the series revolves around the adventures of an unconventional fifteen-year old girl, Alice MacLeod, and her rather dysfunctional family as they go through the mundanities and absurdities of life. Alice is a unique, quirky teenager who, according to her therapist, Bob, is a "hyper-critical, socially-retarded narcissist with mind-numbingly poor judgment." Alice's family is made up of: Diane, Alice's new-age-feminist mother; John, Alice's slacker father; and MacGregor, her bright little brother. Alice was home-schooled and has only recently been enrolled in a conventional secondary school. In that sense, Alice's parents have failed to prepare her for the challenges of real life. For instance, Alice's peculiar fashion sense is remarkably out-of-touch with other kids. In order to help Alice grow up without traumas, her shrink-in-training gives her an old camcorder to document, in a form of direct-address diary, the events of her daily life. Thus, in each episode, Alice depicts things from her witty and entertaining perspective. In this episode, Geraldine and Jane move in with Alice and her family after a fire destroys their kitchen. But, they seem to be welcomed only by Diane. John has an old grudge against Geraldine, and Alice admits that she has never been a huge fan of Jane. When the queen teen, Karen Field, invites Alice to go on a Mainer, Diane, against Alice's wishes, makes her take Jane along with them. <22mn 20s>
