MIDDLE OF SOMEWHERE is a 13-part documentary TV series that explores the province of Saskatchewan in a spellbindingly poetical fashion. Written and hosted by Sean Virgo, the series challenges the old stereotypes of vast, daunting, flat, and diminishing, and concentrates instead on the intimate, warm, detailed, and personal aspects of this great Canadian province. In this episode host Seán Virgo visits Saskatchewan's Ukrainian community, an Eastern European culture for which exile in Canada's prairie province has become home. We learn that Ukrainian priests, art collectors, entrepreneurs, dreamers, even though far from "home", are all fervent guardians of an ancestral way of living, singing and worshipping. This interactive documentary contains interviews with Adam Pidwerbeski, PANP Interpreter and former priest; Dr. Bohdan Kordan, professor-publisher; and Janet Danuliuk, curator. The episode also features archival footage of the Orange Revolution from Kiev in Fall 2004, the time when the presidential election was compromised by corruption, voter intimidation, and electoral fraud. The leading electoral candidate, Viktor Yuschenko, makes a brief appearance. <27mn 28s>
