Unedited interview of actress Corinne Conley about her experiences working in live television for the CBC. The interview is for a two-hour documentary entitled LIVE TO AIR, broadcast on CBC television on 16 September 2002. Among the subjects discussed are: how she started working in television; her background in the theatre in Montreal; being more comfortable on television than on radio; the first television show she ever did; doing a commercial in which the hot studio lights melted the toothpaste; her fear that her hands would tremble while she was doing live commercials; the rehearsal schedule; having to memorize lines for shows and commercials; losing her contact lens during a show; having to reposition when a camera blew out; needing to speed up or slow down during a live broadcast; quick costume changes; a role in which she was murdered by Mavor Moore and there was a portrait of her in the play; the talent of set designers and set painters; camaraderie among the performers and the production crews; working in comedies by Bernard Slade; other performers she liked working with, such as Jill Foster; Murray Matheson; Tom Harvey, Kate Reid, Jack Creley and Barry Morse; a play called CRAWLING ARNOLD; the controversial play THE CONCERT; the play THE NEIGHBOURS; the importance of timing; her role in FLIGHT INTO DANGER with James Doohan as the pilot and Cecil Linder as the air traffic controller; appearing in THE BIG DIG with William Shatner; working with Austin Willis, Barry Morse, Charles Jarrott, David Gardner, Paul Almond, Larry Mann, Frances Hyland and others; Johnny Wayne and Frank Shuster; her job as host of the series OPEN HOUSE and her preference for acting roles rather than being a host; being in a scene with Lloyd Bochner in which they appear in terry cloth robes because both refused to appear on camera in bathing suits. <1h 1mn 24s>

Production date of the Betacam originals (date interview conducted) is 2002-05-09.~4. Betacam SX tape dubbed at CBC on 2002-05-10.~5. Some replies are rephrased at the request of the interviewer in order to create complete replies since the interviewer’s questions are edited out for the documentary.~6. Videotape and transcript available for consultation on LAC premises.~7. There are colour bars at approximately 30 minutes into the tape and again at approximately 59 minutes.
