This sub-series consists of oral histories about the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in Canada. The majority of the interviews were conducted by Stanley Grizzle as part of his research for his book, My Name is Not George. He spoke with former porters as well as members of the Ladies Auxiliary about their life and experiences as a porter or a family member of a porter. Some interviews were conducted by an unidentified interviewer. The interviewees included: Velma King, C.L. Arthur, George Forray, L. Padmore, Clarence Coleman, Harry Gairey, Joseph M. Sealy, Evelyn Braxton, Clarence Este, Ivy Lawrence Maynier, Oliver Davis, Harold Fowler, E. Rouse, J.L. Robbins, Leo Gaskin, W.C. Wright, L.O. Johnston, Ray Lewis, Helen Bailey, Otis Brown, A. Bennett, Laura Guilberry, J. Jameson, R. Bellamy, T. Williams, B.T. Williams, Frank Collins, Roy Williams, Willis Richardson, Odell Holmes, Ted King, Melvin Crump, Bill Overton, Dick Bellamy, A.R. Jameson, Raymond Coker, Mel Grayson, C.M. Hogg and H.O. Eastman. Additional interviewees were identified only by their last names: Crowley and Hobson. There are also two off-air recordings relating to the black community in Canada.
