Intertitle: "During the summer of 1922, 1923 and 1924, the Canadian Government sent expeditions to the Arctic for the purposes of exploring, gathering information and establishing police posts throughout the Dominion's Northern possessions. These expeditions, on their voyages northward, called at Godhavn, Greenland, and it was during these visits that this film was made." A shot of a map indicates the route undertaken by the expedition. Intertitle "The C.G.S. 'Arctic' with the Canadian Government Arctic Expedition aboard entering Godhavn harbour..." Long shot of the ship along the coast and entering the harbour. ~Intertitle: "Greenland is under the control of Denmark and Godhavn is the capitol of the northern 'Inspectorate' as well as a point most frequently visited by explorers and whalers, on their voyage north. Its population numbers about 250". Godhavn harbour and the outpost. Shot of Captain Bernier as a small party of officials from the C.G.S. Arctic arrives at the dock. Shots of Herr Philip Rosendahl, Governor of Godhavn and others greeting a welcoming committee along with throngs of townspeople who turn out to greet the visitors. The officers of the Canadian expedition visit the residence of Herr Harald Lindow, the inspector of Northern Greenland. Officers with the ship in the background. Intertitle "The European influence is seen in the dwellings of the inhabitants of Godhavn. The primitive 'Tupik' (skin tent) and 'Igloo' (snow hut) have given place to small frame houses of modern construction." Various shots of the towns-peoples dwellings on the coast with ice-bergs in the background.~Intertitle: "The Greenlanders have long been Christianized and the quaint churches are not the least interesting feature of this remote Artic settlement." Intertitle: "Eskimo (Inuit) women take great pride in the fit, workmanship, and ornamentation of their clothing, and are passionately fond of beadwork."~An Eskimo (Inuit) woman shows off her costume. Intertitle: "Under the tutelage of the whites the Greenland women have learned crocheting and fancy work and have thus added much to the embellishment of their attire." Close up camera shots of the woman's boots, crocheting details. More shots of the inhabitants.~Intertitle: "One of the chief amusements of the Eskimo (Inuit) is dancing, at which they are very adept. Here is an exposition of the 'Greenland Glide'. Shots of men and women Eskimo's (Inuit) dancing. Various close-up shots of regional flowers and grasses, kayakers paddling alongside the ship as the crew observes from the deck. The film ends with a shot of cameraman in silhouette photographing the setting sun. Intertitle: "Northward Ho!...Into the land of the midnight sun!" <10mn 56s>
