The film opens with a shot of the sun rising on a new day, and how eyesight is an important part of our five senses; taste, touch, smell, hearing, and sight. The film discusses how sight brings us pleasure through various activities; a view of Niagara Falls, playing golf, cards, a game of hockey, shots of the Rocky Mountains, and time lapse footage of flowers blooming. The film looks at services offered by the Canadian National Institute for the Blind in Toronto, and uses animated diagrams to illustrate the sense of sight. The film offers advice on the importance of proper eye care; " This complex hi-speed civilization is causing almost everyone to seek professional visual care at some time or another." The film follows a patient who is examined by her Optometrist, and is put through various diagnostic tests to evaluate the eye, and the patient completes the visit with a prescription for glasses. The film looks at the College of Optometry of Ontario, and Université de Montreal École D'Optometrie. The school board reviews the applicants seeking a career in the Optometry field, and explains the various courses and clinics that are offered to both the male and female applicants. The film features a look at the career of Dr. H.J. Cody, past president and chancellor of the University of Toronto. "Students entering the profession of Optometry will derive the deep down satisfaction of knowing that they will be launched on a career which will render a real service to humanity." And as the sun sets at the end of the day the narrator stresses the importance of "Our most priceless possession, our eyesight."
