Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, notes, reports, press releases, briefing documents, speeches, grey literature, publications, clippings, and other material documenting MacDonald's role as the Clark government's Minister of Communications from 4 June 1979 to 2 March 1980. Records touch on various issues and ministerial responsibilities, including telecommunications in Canada, the Federal-Provincial Conference of Communications Ministers, Telesat Canada, the CRTC, constitutional amendments relating to communications, and MacDonald's speeches as Minister. Includes an extensive run of memoranda and communications from Bernard Ostry, the Deputy Minister of Communications, as well as a small block of files assembled by MacDonald's executive assistant, Fred Rumsey. Also includes political records relating to the 1979 and 1980 general elections and MacDonald's PEI constituency (including some pre-1979 material).
