This sub-sub-series contains copies of letters and special messages from the Prime Minister or members of his Cabinet.

It is hard to compile a list of topics addressed in this sub-sub-series, given their abundance and variety and the fact that only replies from the Prime Minister's Office are available. However, a large portion of this correspondence concerns Canada's economy, federal and provincial politics, and public administration.

Since replies and special messages from the Prime Minister's Office are usually attached to the relevant correspondence, it is preferable (to ensure replies and special messages are placed in their original context) to consult the sub-sub-series containing said correspondence.

Arrangement note:

The files of this sub-sub-series are arranged in chronological order by record type. First, letters sent by the Prime Minister on a specific topic are placed in files created for each topic and arranged chronologically. These are followed by general files for outgoing letters, files for special messages, and files for refused special messages (also arranged chronologically). Lastly, there is a file for the Prime Minister's Dinner, 2000.
