DA VINCI'S INQUEST is a one hour dramatic production combining three genres: the police procedural, the medical thriller and the courtroom drama. The show centers around the cases dealt with by the Vancouver Coroner's Office and its senior coroner Dominic Da Vinci. In this episode an officer and a drug user are killed outside a safe injection site. Da Vinci's superior is concerned about his conflict of interest in regards to the injection site and his desire to keep it open. The officer was stabbed several times in the neck by the user, and the user is killed by the officer's partner when he is shot 3 times, once in the back. The autopsy reveals that the shot in the back was the first one fired from a more considerable distance, but Dominic seems to believe that for the most part the police officers will be cleared. The investigation of the mayor's potential hit and run continues, as the politics around his replacement builds Da Vinci will be forced to announce his candidacy for the position. Da Vinci also suggests Leary as his replacement as coroner; Leahy accepts. Angela Kosmo, now back in robbery, is happy to hear the Crown is investigating Brian's police work. Several crown cases are being thrown out because of questions around his problematic police work, and the Internal Affairs Department decides to suspend him with pay until further notice. Brian believes it to be Angela causing these new problems for him. Leary is contacted by a potential witness to Will's murder. <45mn 20s>
