DA VINCI'S INQUEST is a one hour dramatic production combining three genres: the police procedural, the medical thriller and the courtroom drama. The show centers around the cases dealt with by the Vancouver Coroner's Office and its senior coroner Dominic Da Vinci. In this episode Detectives Shannon and Leary are investigating a suspicious death during an armed robbery. Two suspects attempt to burgle an armored car, and one of the security guards fires three shots, one of which kills a burglar. The investigation leads the detectives to the now dead burglar's roommate who claims no knowledge of his boyfriend's burglary attempt. He does reveal however, his own HIV positive status, and the autopsy reveals the same of the deceased. A body is found and identified as the second robber. The car discovered is linked back to the boyfriend, and the truth is revealed about how they planned the robbery. Da Vinci is called to determine the nature of controversial high-speed chase that ended with a dead bystander, a dead suspect and a police officer is in a coma. The Homicide Department decides to assign a detective to the case to be sure that things are done by the book. The autopsy reveals that the dead bystander was struck twice. The tape of the police cruisers contact with the dispatch reveals that siren was not in use. Da Vinci has a political desire to find fault in the pursuit believing they pose serious danger on the public. On a lucky strike the car recovered from the robbery is brought into the lab and reveals a telling dent as well as blood on its front light. The pieces of the puzzle fit together and the both the high speed pursuit and the robbery are understood. <46mn 8s>
