This series contains records on Erik Spicer's activities as Assistant Librarian and Deputy Librarian at the Public Library of Ottawa. This series includes correspondence (1954-1960), reports, some times tables, two catalogues regarding postcards, posters and bookmarks for the marketing of the libraries, a file concerning the first National Convention of the Federated Women's Institute of Canada in 1957. This file contains the official program of the First National Convention "For Home and Country" held at the Château Laurier in Ottawa, October 28-31, 1957, correspondance between Isobel Clark (Mrs W. L. Clark), Secretary-Treasurer of the Association, Florence M. Hilchey, Chairman of the Exhibits Committee of the 60th anniversary conference, and Erik Spicer concerning a book display for the Conference, an invitation card to the opening dinner and press clipping related to the conference. Finally, the Series contains a file related to the Librarian's Institute Meeting, held in Toronto in 1959.
