THIS IS WONDERLAND follows young lawyer Alice de Raey as she begins her new position as a legal aid for the defendents at Toronto's Old City Hall. In this episode James Ryder is once again making an effort to participate in the legal system. He is trying his best to defend a career drug dealer who was framed by the police. Ryder finds his stride during the trial and exposes the erroneous testimony of the arresting officer, but in the end is unsuccessful. Elliot is defending a prostitute who was solicited by a young boy who told her he was suffering from a terminal disease. Alice is defending a man accused of robbery, but Alice does her best to have the charges reduced to a kind of aggressive panhandling. In the end the judge decides to sentence the young man, and expectant father, to a six months sentence. Several visits are made during the show to mental health court including a case of a young woman who has been repeatedly abused and tortured by her husband. The husband shows up in court only increasing the terror of the young woman. <45mn 2s>
