Scantland, Anna Cecile, 1931- : Author and educator, Anna Cecile Scantland was born in Saskatchewan in 1931. In 1943, she moved with her family to Kelowna, B.C. In 1955 she received her B.A. at the University of British Columbia and married Erik Lund. Her experience working at the Hastings Community Centre in Vancouver in the English for Newcomers Programme sparked her interest in issues around minorities and immigrants. She returned later to UBC to obtain her teaching certificate and began her teaching career in 1959. Post-graduate research for writing was conducted at the University of Washington, Gonzaga University, and the University of British Columbia. Her published works include Resignation; Canada, the franchise and universal suffrage; and Study of historical injustice to Japanese Canadians.

General note:

Resignation dramatizes the issue of the relocation and seizure of property of Japanese Canadians during World War II.
