This accession consiste of correspondence from the Financial Division about various subject like contracts of stamped envelopes (1961-1962), delivery of stamps to postmasters (1937-1942), correspondence to and from postmasters about a new pictoral postage issue on King George VI in 1938. There are also certificate of destruction of obsolete postage values. Damaged or old and unsaleable philatelic stock for destruction by incineration. Lists of stamps from the money order date stamp withdrawn from the field for destruction when a new dater is provided.

This accession consist also of documents from the Public Relations Division. There are request from researchers about stamps, correspondence (1955-1969), complaints about postal service (1968-1971).

We can also find in this accession records from Engineering about the Speaker Tilt Tray Sorting System (1960-1974).

The last document in this accession is a copy of a contract for the conveyance by air of his majesty's mails between Fort McMurray (Alberta) and Aklavik (N.W.T.) (1929).

Custodial history:

These administrative file from the Post Office Department were at the former National Postal Museum before 1988. Some of the records were transfered at the philatelic section in LAC after the closure of the Museum. There were mixed with philatelic records (box 1). Other records were found at West Memorial Building during the move of LAC to Gatineau in 2005 (box 2).
