The series consists of audio and video recordings, including audio reels and cassettes of plays and short stories written by Robin Mathews; radio broadcasts with Mathews as a guest; interviews by and of Mathews; poetry readings; and radio programmes of interest to Mathews. Some of these recordings include Mathews reading "More poems for the people"; Seymour Mayne and Marya Fiamengo reading poetry; the 1968 Commonwealth Poets Conference; "The Job" and "Maquinna the Magnificent", stage plays; and an interview with Alan Beddoe.
The video recordings include a panel discussion on the topic of "The Americanization of the Canadian Education", with Carleton University professors Robin Mathews and James Steele as panelists. The panel was held at Simon Fraser University, 29 Jan. 1971. There is also a videocassette of a seminar at Simon Fraser University, ca. 1993, with Mathews as guest speaker, on the history and struggle for Canadian Studies programmes. He discusses the academic neglect of Canadian culture before 1960, the issue of the Americanization of Canadian universities in the 1960s and 1970s, the fight to create and support Canadian Studies programmes since 1969, and responds to questions from the university audience, making reference to the impact of figures like Pierre Trudeau, Tom Axworthy, Tom Symons, George Grant, Judith Maxwell, Pauline Jewett, and Laurier Lapierre, among others.
