One of a group of original cartoon drawings executed for Laurentian Publishing Ltd. publications "Northern Life" and "Northern Ontario Business," ca. 1980-1987. Some were likely produced for the "Sudbury Star." The subject of this cartoon is Ontario tax grants to help the economy by lowering taxes. The cartoon depicts a man running from a wagon labeled 'Queen's Park' with a pneumatic drill in hand (labeled '$1,178,000 Grant'). He runs towards 'John Citizen' who wears a ball and chain labeled 'The Economy' and who attempts to break a rock labeled 'Taxes' with a mallet.
