Fifteen year-old Oliver Cates has invented VisiCron, an amazing piece of software that transports any historical figure into the present day for 36 hours, after which they return to the exact moment they left, having no conscious memory of their adventure. In this episode Simon would rather play his computer war games than go to the boring Remembrance Day ceremony with his dour Grandpa Cates, a WWII veteran. When Crystal finds a photograph of a young soldier from his regiment, Grandpa will only say that his name is Alex D'Amico. Hoping he can give her an insight into her grumpy Grandpa, Crystal tries to bring Alex D'Amico forward from World War II- but a shell explodes, sending Simon and Crystal into 1944 Normandy, where they encounter their Grandpa and Alex as young recruits. When Grandpa is hit by a mortar shell, Alex decides he must risk his life by going alone for help and he gives Crystal a letter to give to Grandpa if he doesn't make it back. Just as the Allied soldiers arrive to help Grandpa, Simon and Crystal return to the present, where the kids learn from Grandpa that Alex died to save his life. Crystal gives Alex's letter to Grandpa, who grows emotional when he reads the words from his old friend. Now that the kids better understand the sacrifices veterans made to ensure their freedom, Simon and Crystal stand proud and grateful with their Grandpa at the ceremony. <23mn 17s>
