This accession consists of records held by the Montreal West Regional Office - Quebec Area of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Its contents comprise the following: a Summary Report on the operations of the Levis Animals' Quarantine Station for the period extending from 1876 to 1910 inclusive, by J.A. Couture, Superintendent (3 copies); a Summary Report on the operations of the Levis Animals' Quarantine Station for the period 1911 to 1976 by A. Thiboutot, and B. Labonté (2 copies); a folder comprised of 5 photocopied histories of Grosse Ile Quarantine Station, one Agri-Foto (No. 13) pamphlet produced by Agriculture Canada featuring photographs of Grosse Ile, plus a photocopied Grosse Ile Experimental Station map produced by the Department of Agriculture in 1967 indicating the location of extant buildings and their function; and a Beatty Bros. Limited Barn Book circa 1931. The 381 page book is a general purpose guide to the various elements of farm design from the era, including methods of barn construction, stable layout, and sanitation. The book also contains pictures of barns, including the dairy barn at the Dominion Experimental Farm in Agassiz, British Columbia.

Custodial history:

The record was created and/or maintained by the former Health of Animals Division, Food Production and Inspection Branch at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. When the responsibility for animal health was transferred from Agriculture to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the Agency also assumed custody of the records associated with that function.
