Bob Gordon was an active member of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) and sat on a number committees in that organization. He was the Chair of the International Archives Affairs Committee, a member of the Fund-raising Committee, a member of the Council, Treasurer of the Program Committee, and a member of the Committee on Access, Reference and Photoduplication.

This sub-series is organized into two blocks of files, one pertains to the SAA, the other contains material relating to the SAA Council. These records document Gordon's activities on SAA committees, as well the diverse variety of issues which concerned the SAA during the 1970s and the early 1980s. Included in this sub-series are Gordon's files on the SAA Council meetings which he attended (1982-1984) and his files containing SAA Council correspondence. Includes correspondence (copies and originals), memoranda, minutes, agenda, reports, and notes.
