Series containing: photographs documenting the Freiheit Gezang Farein (FGF) and the Toronto Jewish Folk Choir (TJFC); photographs of others, including guest artists, other musicians, dancers, and other musical organizations; and reproductions of drawn and painted portraits of TJFC director Emil Gartner. Photographs of the FGF and the TJFC show the choir in several contexts, including posed group portraits, in performance (concerts, plays, and a radio broadcast), in rehearsal, banquets and other social gatherings, and the choir's executive. Choir members depicted in the photographs include: choir directors Hyman Riegelhaupt, Henry Dobkovsky, Emil Gartner, and Searle Friedman; accompanist Fagel Gartner; manager Sam Harris; and president Dr Joe Chaikoff. Guest artists and other musicians depicted include Murray Adaskin, Alexander Kipnis, Jan Peerce, Regina Resnik, Paul Robeson, Earl Robinson, Bernard Rogers, Jacob Schaefer, and Steven Staryk. Other musical groups depicted include: other Toronto ensembles, such as the Young Hebrew Women's Choral Society, the Mandolin Symphony Orchestra, and the Children's Mandolin Orchestra; and the Montreal Jewish Folk Choir. Also depicted are the dancers Marcel Chojnacki and Nancy Lima Dent.
