Item consists of a double portrait of Deirdre Hurst du Prey and her sister, Phyllis Leonard Hurst. Item one consists of the front of the photograph and item two consists of the inscription.

Prey, Deirdre Hurst du, 1906-2007 : Deirdre Hurst (du Prey) was born in 1906 in Vancouver, BC. She studied acting at Darlington Hall, Devon, England in the 1930s with Michael Chekov who developed a new system of acting, which he later also taught in the USA. She held a teaching certificate from Michael Chekov. She assisted him with his first publication and subsequently wrote and lectured on him, in addition to teaching his technique. Her diaries were published in 2002 entitled "Michael Chekov: Lessons for Teachers of his Acting Techniques"

According to the inscription on the verso of the image, this portrait was exhibited at the National Exhibition in Ottawa, either 1925 or 1926 as an "example of Canadian youth", an intriguing idea for an exhibition which would have been all portraits.
