Brenco Media Inc : Founded in 1998, the Kelowna-based Brenco Media Inc. is a wholly owned aboriginal independent video and television production company. The sole owner of Brenco Media is Ms. Brenda Chambers, who also acts as the company's producer, executive producer, and TV host. Active board member of Canadian Women in Communications and former board member of APTN, Brenda Chambers, who is a Tlingit and member of the Champagne-Aishihik First Nation in the Yukon, has been involved in aboriginal communications for over twenty years. In 2003, she was named one of Canada's "Top-40, Under-40" entrepreneurs. In addition, the same year she won a Global Indigenous Entrepreneurs Award by the World Summit of Indigenous Entrepreneurs. Chambers' Brenco Media Inc. produces the ground-breaking national aboriginal business and economic development documentary series entitled Venturing Forth. The series explores aboriginal achievements and challenges in all regions of Canada. All writers, producers and camera operators working on the series are independents and the majority are aboriginal. The series has aired on APTN, SCN, Access and Knowledge Network. Beside producing Venturing Forth, the company also offers media training, workshops, communications analysis and a variety of video production/television services and communication programs to private and public sector organizations. Brenco's past clients include Shell Canada, Nisga'a Fisheries, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, and National Justice Institute. The company has a significant stock footage library related to various aspects of aboriginal life in Canada, including urban and rural settings, traditional ways of life, and modern images.
