This accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Engineering and Architecture Branch (Atlantic region) of what is now Parks Canada Agency. Records document various aspects of engineering and architectural projects undertaken in the design and maintenance of national historic parks in the Atlantic region. The accession includes grey literature, media clippings and copies of technical plans and drawings which support the textual records.

These records were created under the auspices of the following predecessors of Parks Canada Agency: the Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources (1953 - 1966); the National and Historic Parks Branch (1966 - 1973) and then the Parks Canada Program (1973 - 1979) of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (later renamed the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs); and the Parks Canada Program once transferred to the Department of the Environment (1979 - 1993).
