General note:

This accession consists of location ticket books created and maintained by the Department of Indian Affairs headquarters. The books contain location tickets 1 to 10059 which were distributed mainly to Bands in Ontario; some were also distributed to Bands in British Columbia, Manitoba and Quebec. Location tickets granted Aboriginal people exclusive rights of occupancy and possession (but not ownership) of particular plots of reserve land. In 1951, location tickets were replaced by certificates of possession or notices of entitlements.
