Olson, Gary, 1946- : Gary Olson was born in Minneapolis in 1946. He attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and received a B.F.A. in 1969. From 1969 to 1970, Olson worked on a Graduate School Fellowship at Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana, from whom he also received a M.F.A. in 1973. It was also in 1973 that Olson moved to Canada; in 1974, he officially emigrated here.

He has had a long career as a teacher. From 1973 to 1975, he taught Printmaking at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. From 1984 to 1986 he was an Associate Professor for Paintig and Printmaking at the University of Evansville, in Evansville, Indiana. He was also an Artist-in-Schools-Resident, working at Jerry Potts Elementary School (1999), Sacred Heart Elementary School (1998), Brebeuf School (1997), and Montgomey Junior High, all in Calgary, and Jasper Place High School (1996) in Edmonton.

Olson has also exhibited numerous times. He has exhibited at Honolulu Academy of Art, Hawaii, in "2nd Hawaii National Print Exhibition" in 1973, at Katowice, Poland in "Intergrafia - 78" in 1978, at Museo De Arte Contemporaneo De Ibiza, Spain for "Ibizagrafic '80 - La IX Bienal De Ibiza" in 1981, as well as many Canadian galleries and events.
