In the late 70s through to the 90s, Elizabeth Frey explored texture, colour and abstraction in photography. Her two major projects during this time were the Canadian Shield and Berlin Wall, both of which saw her creating abstractions from these two subjects. Canadian Shield grew into an exhibition that circulated within Toronto and abroad. Selections from the Berlin Wall project were chosen in an international, juried competition to remain with the Checkpoint Charlie museum in Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

A majority of the colour prints are matted and mounted on board.
