Album is one of eleven bound albums which include Victorian scapbooks, and catalogues and order books for greeting cards, and donor's presentation albums. This album is part of a collection which also includes loose items, artifacts and general ephemera with philatelic elements. Total item count of individual elements including those within albums is ca. 1,259. Bulk dates are ca. 1840 to ca. 1920, with some items of lesser and greater dates.

Item is album cover of an album of 37 folios of papers of different colours and contains ca. 275 items, dating primarily from 1860's to 1870's. It is entitled: "CHRISTMAS CARDS" and inscribed on recto folio 1: "To Mamms / Jan 1[^st].. 1878". Album has red/brown cover with a colour lithograph image of children, one riding a donkey, in a forest. A title banner appears above central image and is printed with title: "CHRISTMAS CARDS" with first letter "C" embellished with a bird image. Below image at lower left corner there is a seated girl on a rocking horse and at the lower right corner a boy on bicycle. Between them is a head and shoulders Santa Claus figure with a tree. Banner, corner children and Santa image are printed in gold paint. Total cover design is framed by a floral motif of leaves, twigs and branches, within an outer ruled box border.
