The Fonds consists of one photographic album titled"Montreal" documenting the activities of the Duke of Connaught (1850-1942) and his family during his mandate as Governor General, 1911-1916. Topics include official visits to Halifax, Quebec City, Niagara Falls, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia; receptions at Rideau Hall; winter sports such as skating, figure skating, snowshoeing, skiing, canoeing, tobogganing and curling at Rideau Hall; Royal yatch "Earl Grey", photographed by William Notman; views of Rideau Falls, Chaudière Falls, Ottawa, On.; horse Mansfield ferry; Rideau Locks house moving; personnel activities such as GG's cooks, group photograph of his staff, official limousines, green house, GG's official train across Canada; trips to France (Versailles and Paris), Quebec City and Halifax; fire of Parliament buildings, 1916; group photograph of Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry officers, 1914; interior views of various rooms of Rideau Hall such as Front Hall and Ball Room by Alfred G. Pittaway, Ottawa and group photographs by William Notman, Montreal and Halifax studios. Some photos by J. Bill Reid, 1915.
