The fonds includes minutes and correspondence of the Western Printers Association Limited, 1920-1978; correspondence, clippings and other material relating to the publication of Der Nordwesten-Der Courier, 1957-1983; as well as to German Publications, 1968-1988; correspondence between Heinz Georg Scholz and Erich Otto Reprich and related material, 1958-1980; as well as clippings on the German-language press in Canada and issues related to it, 1964-1979. Also included are correspondence, reports and other matrial relating to the First Conference on Multiculturalism, 1975-1979, as well as a research report on residential segregation in Toronto, 1972, and Kanada einst und heute, 1969, a German-language translation of a book by John Saywell.

Scholz, Heinz Georg, 1919-2002 : Born in Germany, Heinz Georg Scholz emigrated to Canada after World War II. Becoming involved in the newspaper business, he worked at first as business manager for the Western Printers Association, which published Der Courier. He eventually acquired the company, which in 1969 he merged with its main competitor, Der Nordwesten, to establish the largestr German-language weekly in Canada, with a circulation from coast to coast. In addition, in 1958 he founded German Publications, to import German publications and distribute them in Canada.

Different parts of the fonds were received from Heinz Georg Scholz of Toronto in 1988, 1989, and in 1995.
