Obverse: a laureated female figure in classical robes seated on a brick (?) seat and holding a shield extends an open laurel wreath above a bust, a vase, a painter's palette and brushes, a mallet (?), a set square (?) and a wheel (?); on the right is a building with a tower and smoking chimneys. Encircling is ornamentation including a row of six-pointed stars, with four oval areas at regualr intervals; in these ovals are (from top, reading clockwise): a seated female figure wearing classical robes in a landscape and holding a shield and book, with a bird and cornucopia near her; on right: a seated female figure in robes but with bare breasts and holding a staff (?) with exotic (?) trees behind; at bottom: a seated female figure in classical robes and holding a staff (?) with unidentified structures at either side; on left, a seated female figure in classical robes with buildings (?) behind her.
