Canada did not mean freedom to these people when they arrived as British Empire Loyalists toward the end of the 18th century, nor later with their mass exodus from the United States to Canada after the abolition of slavery in 1834. Yet, throughout these terrible times the church continued to grow as an institution within Black culture. This documentary features interviews with : Reverend Denise Gillard, James Walker, Reverend Darryl Gray, Dr. Henry Bishop, George Elliott Clarke, Brian Johnston, Reverend Lionel Mariah, Elise Harding-Davis, Reverend Tracey Grosse, Carol Duncan, Gwen Robinson, Wilma Morrison amd Harriet Tubman. <47mn 40s>Language:EnglishNotes: -
