With its funding cut and doors closing, Special Assignment looks at the role that the Participaction program played in getting Canadians off of the couch and into running shoes. From its early days with its ad campaign comparing a 30 year old Canadian to a 60 year old Swede, to various motivational campaigns, Participaction contributed to Canadians altering their lifestyles to become more active. Interviews with Bruce Kidd, University of Toronto; Russ Kisby, Participaction and Michelle Brownrigg, Ontario Physical Health Education Association emphasize the importance of the program and and how the federal government should maintain funding and not cut the program.
