A documentary record through the clever use of graphics, maps and colour photographs.The film concentrates on the communication aspect of the R-100's visit to Canada. The photographs are well copied on 16mm stock, and the entire trip, tracing the progress of the giant ship from its Cardington, England, mooring mast, to the arrival at St. Hubert Aerodrome, Québec. Scenes include: preparations including the tower, equipment set up; the welcoming committee, including Montreal Mayor, Camilien Houde, Major General A.G.L. McNaughton, Colonel Ralston, Major Scott, Sir D. Burney, and G/C. Colmore, and other dignitaries; the arrival of the R-100 and the reception; the Ontario trip with group of Government officials ready to embark: G/C. E.W. Stedman, Commander W. H. Hose, Major General Mcnaughton, G/C. J.L. Gordon, W/C. L.S. Breadner, Commander C.P. Edwards and Captain Frank C. Badgley; Niagara Falls, Toronto harbour, and over Kingston; Governor General and Lady Willington at Government House and members of R-100 crew; and return flight, Canada to England on 30 August 1930. < >

1. Historical Series no. 4.~2. His Majesty's Airship R100, known simply as R100, was a privately designed and built British rigid airship made as part of a two-ship competition to develop a commercial airship service for use on British Empire routes. R100 departed for Canada on 29 July 1930, reaching its mooring mast at the St-Hubert, Québec Airport (outside Montreal) in 78 hours. The airship stayed at Montreal for 12 days with over 100, 000 people visiting each day while it was moored there. It also made a 24-hour passenger-carrying flight to Ottawa, Toronto, and Niagara Falls while in Canada. The airship departed on its return flight on 13 August, reaching Cardington after a 57 1/2 hour flight. (Wikipedia)
